The Community Furniture Project is run by the Newbury Community Resource Centre, a non-profit organisation that helps disadvantaged local people, including those in financial need and adults and young people with disabilities. The NCRC promotes independent living by providing re-used furniture and household goods and opportunities for volunteering, training and work experience. Their Community Furniture Shop on Bone Lane enables people to donate items, knowing that they will be put to good use in helping others to improve their living conditions. The shop is open to everyone, with reduced prices for those on benefits and pensions. Surplus funds generated by the shop directly support the wide range of other services provided by the charity to vulnerable members of the local community.
