Get Out of Doors with the Corn Exchange OVER the bank holiday weekend and into half term, the Corn Exchange, Newbury will be kick- into the soundtrack of the performance. Suitable for under-10s and their families, it combines photography and drawing skills in a fun two-hour trail led by illustrator Simon Jardine. For primary-aged children that use Makaton, a play, socialise and craft session will be held on Friday, June 4, specifically for families who use Makaton to communicate. To round off the week, well-loved stories will be explored in Little Story Sundays, Sunday, June 6 – an imaginative play, singing and craft workshop. From Friday, June 4, to Sunday, June 6, the Corn Exchange Newbury and 101 Outdoor Arts Creation Space will present their first free outdoor show of the season – Rider Spoke by Blast Theory. Based in Brighton, Blast Theory create internationally celebrated experiences that explore how we connect with strangers and how technology shapes society. The Corn Exchange and 101’s free outdoor programme is supported by Greenham Trust and Arts Council England. The Corn Exchange is following all government and industry Covid-19 guidelines and has measures in place to ensure that the events are Covid-secure. With a 6pm performance, it makes the perfect after school treat to begin the weekend. Strong Enough is also a Relaxed Performance, adapted to suit the needs of anyone who may benefit from a more relaxed environment, and an Easy Read document is available online via the Corn Exchange website for audience members to download ahead of the event. Over in Victoria Park, activities for Early Years children can be enjoyed throughout the half term. Wake Up Shake Up sessions will take place every morning from Monday, May 31, to Friday, June 4, where families with little ones aged six and under can get their days off to a great start with a mix of different creative activities. On Monday there is a movement-based class that explores different dance skills, and on Tuesday you can channel your favourite cartoon characters, with
