Christmas Guide 2020

Newbury Weekly News

The Newbury Weekly News Over 80s’ Parcel Fund 2020 Please help us raise £20,000 to buy the food from Sainsbury’s this year.

The Tea and Tobacco Fund this year beat all records “No 99” was one of the happiest households in the Newbury district on Christmas day.’ Newbury Weekly News 1908

If you had been receiving a Newbury Weekly News food parcel 100 years ago it would have contained either a tin of tea or tobacco. Times have certainly changed and 2020 has been very different too, but the Parcel Fund continues! This year we are doing the same thanks to so many people who

are still willing to give up their time and help and will be distributing over 2000 parcels for which we will need over £20,000!

How can you help?

We are delighted to announce Greenham Trust is match funding the first £5000 of company and private donations made to The Over 80s Parcel Fund via The Good Exchange. For each £1 donated on-line, Greenham Trust will also donate £1 towards a Christmas parcel. To make a donation please go to: https://app. thegoodexchange.com/project/18393/ newbury-weekly-news/newbury-weekly- news-over-80s-parcel-fund

Alternatively if you would like to donate to by cheque please make it payable to ‘NWN Over 80s Parcel Fund’ and post it to Joanne Fulker at the Newbury Weekly News, Newspaper House, Faraday Road, Newbury RG14 2AD. For many of the elderly residents in Newbury, Hungerford and Thatcham and the surrounding villages, who don’t have family around them, the delivery of the Christmas Food Parcel and some company for a few minutes is what they look forward to each Christmas.
