Cheese Etc at 15
Cheese Etc, The Pangbourne Cheese Shop celebrates 15 years of trading this year. Inspired by the
about cheese and recommendations given to which crackers and chutney are the best accompaniments too. Cheese gifts
are popular and customers can choose which
cheese shop run by Major
Patrick Rance in Streatley back in the 1970s, the
cheeses they would like to give or leave it to the shop to put together a balanced selection. Most of the cheeses that can be found in the shop are available for ordering online at cheese-etc.co.uk This nationwide delivery service is increasingly popular, with many customers returning time and time again. Local customers are making use of the Free Flexi Delivery service offered and Cheese Etc have recently made this easier, enabling customers to order by a Tuesday night for delivery the same week. Another change to the business is the arrival of an all-electric refrigerated van and solar power system. This means that solar power generated throughout the day can be stored and used to charge the van overnight ready for local deliveries the next day. Cheese Etc has one of the first few electric vans in the country like this and it allows the business to deliver throughout Berkshire and Oxfordshire on a single charge. There are more exciting changes to come during Cheese Etc’s 15th Birthday Year. New workshop facilities are shortly opening to provide an area for preparing online orders and delivering training, so it really is a year to celebrate.
Pangbourne Cheese Shop was founded in autumn 2005 and stocks a wide selection of artisan British and Continental cheese. Jen and Ali Grimstone-Jones have owned the shop for the last five years and during that time they have won the Cheese Counter of the Year at the World Cheese Awards as well as Cheesemonger of the Year at the Farm Shop and Deli Awards. There are more than 130 different cheeses in the Pangbourne-based shop and more than half of these are made by cheese makers from the length and breadth of Britain. Jen and Ali try and meet as many of these skilled artisans as they can in order to maintain an indepth knowledge of how the cheeses are made, matured and developed. They have judged at various British and International cheese competitions and tasted all sorts of cheeses, including world champions – as well as a few they wouldn’t like to taste again. Cheese Etc is in the heart of Pangbourne which has become a real foodie destination, with many small independent shops offering old-fashioned customer service and high quality products. Everyone is made to feel welcome in the shop. There is friendly advice provided to anyone who wants to know a bit more
