Ballard Reception – Anna’s Story
Here are a fewof the things our Reception pupils have toldus they love: • Learning to read the words in books • That there is lots of sport and that the PE teachers are fantastic • Exploring the woods and walking in themud at Forest School • Using boxes tomake 3D junkmodels • Playing with new friends • Being dinosaurs, “Next break I’mgoing to be a giganotosaurus.” • Reading to the teachers • When the older children come to visit • Merlin (the School dog). As well as focusing on the all-important building blocks of reading, writing and an understanding of numbers, teachers strive to instil a love of learning; engaging pupils in many ways. Forest School, ‘GoldenTime’andanextensiverangeofafter-school activities encourage even the youngest pupils to problem-solve, explore and make decisions. Pupilsmove up through the School with resilience, a growing self-awareness and a can-do attitude.
