As much as possible carers are encouraged to be involved with the planning of these days so that staff can try to facilitate as much as pos - sible meeting the carer’s enjoyment of the day. ‘I came not knowing what to expect it is after all a hospice...what I didn’t expect was the chatter and the laughter. The co-ordinator of the group gave up with any formal introduction. We had already done that as a group!’

Carers find meeting up together offers support and ideas and the sharing of information can help both psychologically and often practically. They enjoy a buffet lunch together and there are often volunteers available to provide complementary therapies, such as foot or hand massages. Guest speakers will come in and discuss a variety of interesting subjects or provide demonstrations.
