Tickets to the Royal County of Berkshire Show WIN Out&About competition
T he Royal County of Berkshire Show returns in September, showcasing a brand new layout, new activities, new faces and attractions topping the Main Arena bill. The Main Arena has something to entertain all the family, including the UK’s biggest premier stunt show Extreme Bike Battle, with their world-class professional riders offering fast and furious stunts, jumps and backflips. The Guards Polo Club, established in 1955 by the Duke of Edinburgh, will be demonstrating their world-class skills with their courageous ponies and last, but not least, a spectacular Forage Pageant will take place, showing spectators how grass goes to glass, with large mowers, combines, feeder wagons, trailers and brand new classes to cater for all levels of equine competitors, from Shetland’s to Shires, and the internet sensations Wocket Woy and the Pwoducers will be commentating on the Retraining of Racehorses classes on the Saturday. The Activities Zone will be a children’s wonderland adventure, with Tractor Ted returning, along with Extreme Bike Battle performing with their BMX and mountain bikes and a Military Village offering activities and demonstrations from the Army Cadets and Reserves. There’s a fantastic play area and why not take a llama for a walk? New to the show is the Artisan Gin competition in the Gin Marquee, with accomplished judges Paul Jackson and David Marklew picking the winners. Combining the area’s finest wedding creatives and the beautiful scents and vibrant colours from the show’s flower offerings, the Flower & Wedding Marquee has been relocated along Avenue A and will be offering glamour, passion, inspiration and guidance for your big day. Prices for adult and concession entry have been frozen this year, but children can gain entry for just £1. A weekend ticket has also been introduced for those who enjoy the two- day action-packed adventure. regularly attracts entrants from across Britain, with more than 2,000 animals competing. The spectacular Grand Parade of Livestock takes place in the Main Arena on both days. There are also 600-plus unique stands selling everything from fine arts to children’s toys, to country clothing and fire pits. Around the edges, vast marquees are devoted to delectable food and drink and beautiful crafts. There are also many ‘have-a-go’ attractions: • Find out what it’s like to drive a combine harvester. Yes, this beast of a machine is returning to the Food & Farming Zone. • Come and help the blacksmiths with a themed item over the show weekend. • Check out the brand new Bee & Honey Tent where there will be honey tastings, a candle-rolling workshop and dressing up for the kids as well as a fun quiz. • Get up close and cuddly with piglets, chicks, donkeys, ducklings and many more cute animals in the Petting Farm. • Check out the brand new Aspioneering Area with lots of demonstrations and activities based around STEM (Science,
