super soups

Nothing beats a bowl of soup on a chilly winter night. And there’s nothing quite like home-made soup. Soup makers may seem an extravagance but if you are short of time, they are brilliant. Basically you just throw the ingredients – veg and meat or just veg then stock or water and any other spices or flavourings and the soup maker will do everything for you. They can even keep the soup warm so you can go back for seconds. Here are three of the best.

Cuisinart SSB1U Soup Maker £122

Morphy Richards 501014 Saute and Soup Maker £65

Tefal BL841140 Easy Soup £59.97

Will create fresh, homemade soup from start to finish in just 20 minutes. Rapid heating element and non stick cooking plate sautes vegetables, boils and simmers soups. The blender with stainless steel blades blends hot soups and sauces to preferred consistency, straight after cooking. It has a self clean feature and can also be used to prepare hot and cold sauces, smoothies and even crush ice. 1.4 litre capacity for soup, 1.75 for cold liquids.

Good basic and nice looking machine that creates different soup texture combinations. Also creates compote and blends without heat. Large easy to use display. Automatic programmes and manual mode. Capacity is 1.2 litre so smaller than others.

This 1.6 litre model will make enough to serve four. Makes the soup in as little as 21 minutes. It has four settings – smooth, chunky, juice and blend. It also has a sauté function – simply add onions, bacon, garlic, ginger or spices into the jug for maximum flavour before adding the vegetables and stock.
