This is the story of star-crossed lovers kept apart by scenery… and whimsy. She’s a young woman who lives quietly in the world, but loudly in her mind. Join Amélie as she finds her voice. The show opens at the Bagnor theatre before touring nationally and internationally. It tours to New Theatre Oxford from June 17-22

Contemporary Art Fairs Newbury Racecourse Saturday, May 11, 10-am-6pm, Sunday, May 12, 10am-5pm www.contemporaryartfairs.co.uk If in the past you have enjoyed the diverse artwork on show at Reading’s Rivermead, you’ll be pleased to hear that Contemporary Art Fairs is coming to Newbury Racecourse in May. Art lovers and artists meet face to face, to browse, to talk, to admire and to buy. The fair brings together more than 160 artists, printmakers, photographers, sculptors, ceramicists and selected galleries from the UK and Europe, offering the best in contemporary art. With artwork for sale from £40 to £4,000 and workshops and demonstrations, you’ll be inspired – allow yourself several hours to really appreciate everything there is to see. Watch out too for local artists from Ceramic Art Whitway – Teresa Munn, Maya Tosh and Sally Courage – and Robyn Carter from Hungerford. Open Studios – West Berkshire & North Hampshire, May 4-27 MORE than 100 practicing artists and makers will be opening their studios and exhibiting in satellite shows throughout Open Studios. Details of all exhibitions and workshops are in the free Open Studios directory (available from the Corn Exchange, libraries, bookshops and tourist information centres) and on the Open Studios website. Examples of all the participating artists work will be on show at the ‘taster’ Insight exhibition at The Base, Greenham, so visitors can get an idea of which artists they plan to visit. www.open-studios.org.uk
