An English country garden Hampshire Country & Garden Festival Bere Mill, Whitchurch, Sunday, June 27 www.hampshiregardenfestival.co.uk Organised by the Hampshire based charity called The Hampshire Medical Fun, which fundraises for the NHS hospitals of Basingstoke, Winchester and Andover to purchase cutting-edge equipment which wouldn’t otherwise be funded. The festival promotes the great outdoors and all it has to offer; it celebrates the benefits to our health and wellbeing of gardening for all ages, healthy eating, inspirational speakers, learning new creative skills, enjoying music, plus there will be a huge array of children’s activities.

National Trust gardens are at their best in the summer with vibrant colours, scented spaces and relaxing areas with breath-taking views. VisitorstoBasildonParkcanenjoytheRoseGarden,which featuresold-fashionedvarietiessuchasRosaMutabilisthat changes colour over the season from peachy yellow to watermelon pink and finally a rich dark red. Roses are also on display at Greys Court, where you can also take in the peony border with fragrant lavender surrounding it and crab apples and clematis that have been trained over hoops to create a lush flower tunnel. Other places to visit further ‘out and about’ include The Vyne, Hughenden, Cliveden and Waddesdon.
