Advent celebrations Saturday, December 1-Monday, December 24 Living Advent Calendar, Newbury Like a traditional children’s advent calendar, a newly decorated window or door will be unveiled by a local amenity, business or resident, who will entertain you with a surprise festive treat. The event - which will remain secret until the day and run typically for 15 minutes - can include songs, dance, music, food, sketches, poetry as well as more bespoke entertainment, all with a festive twist. Come along and enjoy the magic of Christmas. Participants include West Berkshire Museum, Shaw House, Hogan Music, St Nicolas Church and houses on streets around Newbury. Times vary. Keeping watch

Neighbourhood Watch meeting West Berkshire Council offices, Market Street, Newbury, 7.30pm Monday, November 26 Talk by Toby Green and Malcolm Phillips of Trading Standards. Representatives from the police and fire service will also be attending to give crime updates and both will be available to answer any questions. There is parking close by and the evening charge is £2. Anyone is welcome to attend this meeting.
