Mike Carlucci, the Managing Director, was born in Reading to Italian parents who came to Britain in the 1950s “My family are from Puglia, in the South of Italy where there has always been a work shortage. My father travelled to Wales where he worked in a coal mine for 4 years, allowing him to stay in Britain, as there was a shortage of manual labour. My parents then moved to Reading where I was born, but I have always had strong ties to Italy.” 10 years ago, Mike bought a 300-year-old farm in Puglia, ‘Tenuta Marmorelle’ and restored it. “We have over 300 beautiful ancient olive trees and I decided to bo�le ZERO our Award-Winning Extra Virgin Olive Oil; from there our adventure into the food business began! We started to source Pasta, Balsamic Vinegar, Prosecco and the range just keeps growing! We use ZERO as the benchmark for all our products and taste everything we import.

We’ve won a number of Great Taste Awards and have without doubt the best Gluten Free Pasta and Sauces on the Market” Mike spends a lot of his time in Italy, while in Thatcham, office and warehouse are run by his son Vincent and Sales by his other son, Nick, who looks after existing customers UK- wide. “Working directly with our customers allows us to build a relationship and share knowledge of our products.” Nick is clearly passionate about his role and as Mike says, even in these terrible times there are always opportunities. “Our webstore has become increasingly important.
