T he roar of Formula 1 engines can be heard before you reach the front entrance for the annual Ferrari Racing Day - and what better venue to parade such Italian supercars than the home of the British Grand Prix, the Silverstone circuit. Notorious for their performance and sound, an array of the Italian motors, new and old, were on display across the entire site, with a combination of different races to keep motor enthusiasts entertained. Guests were able to make their way through a safari of motorcars, from classics like the 328 GTS to new additions like the hybrid supercar, SF90. limelight was stolen by the one car in particular. Painted in the classic shade of Rosso Corsa – or racing red – it should have blended right in, but the Ferrari F40 stood out. The F40 was the first street legal car to push past 200mph. It is a motor that, in its early days of ‘87, was

one of only 400 units. As time ticked on, popularity and demand rose, resulting in a total of 1,315 being produced until 1992. It’s not a car you see every day, which was evident in the attention it attracted. With creature comforts excluded from the design (one could argue the

interior is noticeably bare) and with paintwork limited to around two litres per unit, this agile supercar was designed for nothing but sheer speed. On release, this Ferrari had a revolutionary design, strong road presence and showed off the advances in engineering of its time. Witnessing the Ferrari Challenge UK, the fifth round in the series, was a chance for visitors to vicariously live the dream of racing a supercar. While the majority are required to watch from the stands, any UK client can participate in the challenge, providing they own a Ferrari 488, the automaker’s first turbocharged sports car – different from its naturally-
