Meet the Artist Claire Howarth

BENOCPHOTOGRAPHY Fine Art Photography

I am a self-taught acrylic animal artist. My style is big, bold and bright. Capturing the animals personality is as important to me as capturing there texture and colour. There is not an animal that I would not want to paint, as I love them all. But I am especially looking forward to the challenge of capturing an octopus on a large scale at some point. My inspiration and passion comes from the previous 20+ years I have spent working with animals, from dog grooming through to rescue work. Painting has taken over my life, since I picked up a paintbrush around 7yrs ago. I embrace the challenges painting presents and the accomplishment when you push through and have a finished piece of art that represents your vision. I love the artistic community that Newbury and the surrounding areas has to offer, and have embraced that with setting up a little art Gallery on the London Road. The gallery showcases local artists and creatives, offering a selection of wall hung art, Ceramics, Fused Glass, jewellery and lots more.

I want the community to see the local talent that often remains unseen and offer the opportunity for the artist to showcase their talent in a small but friendly environment. The artists change 6 wkly, allowing lots of creatives to be involved and the Gallery to be continually changing. My Aspiration for the future is for the Gallery to be a popular place to visit and find that special piece of artwork or unique gift. To keep our artwork visible and artist motivated to keep creating, with the rewards of some sales along the way. I am excited to keep continuing my own personal artistic journey with lots of enthusiasm for the next Picture that I will paint, evolving along the way.
