Out and About - Winter 2021

Meet The Artist Gail Davis

Meet The Artist Laura Cranstoun The Cherished Wall I have enjoyed making bespoke Picture Frames for years, seeing my lovely client’s memories, artwork and special treasures. Behind the scenes of Framing, I have always loved creating my own art and longed to include this in my daily work.

Gail is an up-and-coming locally- acclaimed artist, whose work has an International following. Mainly painting in oil on canvas, Gail is a versatile painter, portraying subjects including land and seascapes, Architecture, flora and fauna and portraits. She produces compelling art that combines the reality of life’s images, with her reflective and engaging view of the world. 2020 was an exciting year as Gail took part in the Sky Arts Portrait Artist of The Year and exhibited at The Royal Society of British Artists 2020 annual exhibition. Shortly followed by the Royal Institute of Oil Painters Annual Exhibition.

In 2021 the excitement continued with Gail being chosen once again by Sky Arts, but this time for Sky Arts Landscape Artist of the Year 2021. Gail also exhibits through Open Studio West Berkshire and North Hampshire.

I set about working with acrylic, ink and collage to make bold and bright abstract art that is inspired by nature, my children my environment and my personal struggles with MS. I really want to connect with clients on a more intimate level and combine the art and framing as well. ‘The CherishedWall’ was my answer to that. My giclée prints are awaiting that personalised element from the client– their special words or numbers, appearing more subtle to invite the viewer to search out the detail amongst the colours and shapes of the Art.
