Tracey’s and Sarah’s top tips for looking after fresh flowers n You should remove the foliage from the bottom of the flowers then cut the stems before putting them in to the fresh water n After a few days you need to clean the vase, change the water and add the flower food n Re-cut the stems to prolong the life of the flowers n Try not to put your flowers too close to a radiator or in a window with direct sunlight n If you’d like to buy flowers with a long vase life we recommend, carnations, chrysanthemum blooms and sprays, alstromeria and lilys – however, no lilies for cat lovers out there as they are poisonous to felines.
