LYMINGTON - the place in the New Forest to do your Christmas shopping this year
As the Society said in it’s recent press release: “Whilst shopping on the web has its place, there’s nothing to beat shopping in your own town where amazing, exciting and di erent things can be found from local retailers. You can also get a co ee or a bite to eat and you’re bound to meet someone you know and have a quick catch up - you can’t do that online in the same way. There is also the wonderful Lymington Market, with its friendly stallholders and exciting stalls with an amazing range of local and artisan items that you simply can’t get on the web If you’re not certain local shops have what you’re looking for, why not phone up and ask them to get it in for you to collect the next day. Local Click and Collect. So please “ ink before you Click” and Support Lymington this Christmas.” Submitted by Don Mackenzie The Lymington Society www.lymsoc.co.uk
initiative started earlier in the year, and now with its new Christmas themed “Shop Local – Save Shops – Support Lymington this Christmas” campaign featuring banners in the town, posters in shops and articles in the local paper. Supported by the Town Council and the Chamber of Commerce, this initiative calls on residents to “Think Before They Click” and instead try and see what Lyming- ton has to offer this Christmas, before going online for presents that could be found in the town instead. With lots of local food produc- ers, hamper suppliers, gin makers, clothes shops, jewellers, watch shops, galleries, museum shop and many, many more businesses and shops, there are many exciting opportunities in the town to find that special gift, rather than opt for the rather soulless experience of yet another online purchase.
– thankfully still operating despite Covid 19 – there is something for everyone in this inviting shopping centre. Now more than ever, with the amazing Lymington Christmas light thankfully back up and spar- kling all the way from St Thomas Street to the cobbles and the Town Quay, Lymington is well and truly open for business and ready to help you make this a really spe- cial Christmas, after the doom and gloom of the past months. Backed by campaigns from American Express and Google, the appeal of shopping locally is grow- ing in importance, as more people realise that they can both find the attractive items that need, and can support the local economy at the same time. In Lymington the Lymington So- ciety has taken on board the huge impact that “shopping locally” can have to help the retail sector in the town and has been actively pro- moting shopping locally, firstly with its previous Shop Local - Save Jobs
From the smaller more intimate experience of St Thomas Street and its specialist shops, to the long and elegant Georgian High Street, Lymington is a special place that maybe local people take a bit for granted, but which never fails to impress newcomers to the town. The range of shops in Lymington is impressive in anyone’s book and with the Saturday Market as well perhaps even much further afield as well. Amidst all the gloom over the state of the retail sector, Lymington still o ers the best shopping experiences available amongst the New forest towns and

We place great emphasis on sourcing our fish from sustainable and well-managed fish stocks. Why is this so important? Quite simply, sustainable seafood is caught in ways that consider the long-term vitality of harvested species and the well-being of the oceans, as well as the livelihoods of fisheries-dependent communities. www.deepbluerestaurants.com
