FORMER Bashley player Clive Makoni died on the same day he was due in court to face allegations of rape, it has emerged. The body of the 26-year-old striker, who had played as a youth for AFC Bournemouth and many Hampshire-based, non-league football sides, was discovered hanging at a property where he had been staying in Kings Somborne, near Winchester, last month. The Zimbabwean had reportedly been due to appear in court on 20th August this year, but the hearing was

The other goals came from Ben Cooper and Chris Long, the latter hitting the back of the net with a jaw- dropping bicycle kick from the edge of the area. Totton & Eling had the best of the early exchanges, but New Milton grew into the game as the half progressed. There was an early scare for NewMilton when Ryan Lomax came within a whisker’s breadth of turning Joe Selby’s corner into the net. The home side should have taken the lead with 11 minutes gone when Cooper missed an absolute sitter after an unfortunate bobble caused the number 10 to get under the ball. Although the visitors felt hard- done-by, their appeals were in vain. CaptainWill Tickle showed his experience, converting from 12 yards. Midway through the first- half, the referee sin-binned Stoneham’s Callum Laycock for his over-enthusiastic appeals for a penalty after a perceived foul on Scott Hills went unpunished.
