STAR of TV’s Mock the Week Andy Parsons will be on stage at Forest Arts in New Milton next month with his Healing the Nation tour. Andy began his career writing for Weekending and Smith and Jones, and went on to become one of the main writers on the ground-break- ing Spitting Image. Since then Andy has appeared in many TV shows including Live at the Apollo, QI, the Stand-Up Show, the Comedy Store and They Think It’s All Over. He currently performs the high- ly acclaimed Slacktivist Action Group monthly at London’s Soho Theatre, interviewing politicians, comedians and activists, which he also releases as his regular podcast of the same name. Andy admits his latest stand up show has been rewritten many times since its 2019 launch, follow- ing Boris Johnson becoming Prime Minister, then again for the general election last year, and finally in 2020
to reflect the Covid-19 pandemic. Andy said: “As the tour has gone on, there’s been less and less healing and more and more of the opposite. “Admittedly, I could have changed the title but it still seemed strangely appropri- ate – and some of the gigs have been rescheduled so it would prove confusing to existing tick- etholders if the ticket said ‘Heal- ing the Nation’ but the show was now called ‘My life in Ballet’. “We have serially rewritten the tour not so much due to popular demand but more lack of open venues. And with negative powers of healing. Yet this latest, very new version of the show is my favourite so far.” Andy Parson will be Healing the Nation at Forest Arts on Wednes- day 20th January at 7.30pm. Tick - ets are £10. Created by the London Touring Players, the show follows on the success this summer of a series of Shake- speare productions staged in the woodlands of the nearby Countryside Education Trust. Director Abbey Wright said: “I think we all need some Christmas spirit this year more than ever – I know I do! There will be laughter, song, joy and Christmas spirit in abun- dance.” Lord Montagu said: “I am delighted to welcome the London Touring Players to
Beaulieu.
