Harry Bunce was at his brilliant best and Whiteley was giving the Millbrook men nightmares with his movement. With the half almost over, Bashley won their second penalty when Bunce was taken out by Milbrook keeper Wearing. Harry McGrath sent the keeper the wrong way, but the shot lacked power and was diverted clear by the keeper’s trailing leg. The second-half began with another penalty, but this time it was the Cornishmen who benefitted. Sammy Thompson got his hand to the ball, but the shot’s power was too great as Millbrook took a two-goal lead. Bashley laid siege to the Milbrook goal, but the crucial goal eluded them as the home side sealed cup progression. To add insult to injury, Bashley’s coach fell afoul of Millbrook’s narrow streets, resulting in two broken windows and time spent jammed up against a pub. During the delay, the local watering hole’s occupants serenaded the coach with renditions of “two-nil, two-nil”. player starting his run inside his half. Wilcock forced a wonder save out of Cribbs’ shot- stopper Fraser McDiarmid with a 30-yard curling strike as the half drew to a close. Cribbs’ top-scorer Steve Murray had a couple of decent chances in the second half, but 18-year-old keeper Gunstone- Gray made amends for his earlier mistake by saving both. Micky Finch and Fletcher came off the bench and caused havoc for the Bristol side’s defence as Christchurch began to take control. With five minutes left, McDiarmid palmed away Ben Satterley’s low curling shot. The loose ball found its way to Fletcher who tapped in the winner in front of 114 fans. LYMINGTON Town’s ex - traordinary form continued – at least until midweek – with a 10th consecutive league win thanks to another clean sheet and a second-half penalty at the Bonnymead Park on Sat - urday. Amesbury Town’s battling performance belied their bottom-of-the-table position with their striker Michael Owen testing the Lymington defence throughout. However, with 77 minutes gone, Sam House buried a penalty to extend the perfect streak. Lymington welcomed skipper Tim Stephenson back to the starting line-up, with last season’s top-scorer House playing as striker due to the injured Dom Falco’s unavailability. The visitors made a bright start to the match, with House narrowly missing two early chances. The keeper did well to block one effort, and the other fizzed narrowly over the crossbar. Towards the end of the half, House and Tyrone Carkeet missed glorious opportunities when it seemed easier to score. As the second half progressed, Lymington took a firm grip of the match. Their dominance was on full display as they forced three successive corners and Amesbury were pinned back. With the clock running down and just seven

their place in the next round of the FA Vase after an 85th- minute winner from second- half substitute Will Fletcher at the M.A. Hart Stadium on Saturday. Nick Swann scored the game’s first goal for Christchurch with a stunning volley after just 10 minutes. Cribbs hit back with a headed goal from Ross McErlain before Fletcher pounced on a loose ball to tap in the winner. The opener came after Max Wilcock chested down a crossfield ball from the halfway line. The number 10 drove to the byline before his cross was well blocked by the Cribbs right back. The resulting clearance was intercepted by Swann, whose first touch lifted the ball into the air for the midfielder to volley into the bottom left corner from the edge of the area. TheBristol-based side found their feet, and they began to fashion a few chances. After winning a corner, McErlain

House showed his mettle by stepping up and converting the resulting penalty in off the inside of the post. Out of the 14 leagues in the English football pyramid at step 5, Lymington have the best defensive record with nine clean sheets in 10 games with one goal conceded. From 280 teams, the only other side to boast a perfect record is Wroxham in the Thurlow Nunn Premier League. Lymington Town: R. Casey, R. Fuller, L. Churchill, J. Bulpitt, T. Stephenson, C. BASHLEY started the match without four key players, but two missed first-half penalties was the real story for the visitors who slumped to a 2-0 FA Vase defeat at Jenkins Park in Cornwall on Saturday. The visitors started with just one outfield player on the bench and defender Matty Crowe playing up front in the absence of Sydenhams Wessex Premier League top-scorer Harry Morgan. Despite fielding a weakened team, Bashley’s pedigree showed from the start. They looked to have been rewarded in the 12th minute when Conor Whiteley was brought down when through on goal. Whiteley’s low spot-kick was anticipated well by keeper Chris Wearing, who finger- tipped the ball to safety. Bashley’s misery was compounded four minutes later when Millbrook’s Jake Foster caught Sam Thompson off his line to score with a hopeful punt from more than 30 yards out. The visitors renewed their task, and they were in firm control. Despite the flow of the BROCKENHURST were beat - en 2-1 by Sydenhams Wessex Division One’s US Portsmouth in a scoreline that flattered the visitors at the Victory Stadium on Saturday. US Portsmouth have now knocked three sides from a higher league out of the FA Vase after victories against Portches - ter, Bournemouth Poppies and Brockenhurst. This is the first time the home side has made it to the FA Vase Third Round. Goals from James Franklyn and Andy Todd sandwiched an equaliser from Brockenhurst’s Toby Bailey. However, the win - ning margin would have been far greater but for the fine goal - keeping of James Mayo, who possesses all the trademarks of his late father, Mark Ovendale, who played for AFC Bourne - mouth for two seasons. The visitors battled throughout the game, but Blackfield’s superiority showed as they scored two goals in each half. The win maintains their sixth-place position in the league. the goal – it was no more than the hard-working number nine deserved. Seconds later, captain Aaron Scott was given his marching orders for a second yellow after kicking the ball away. He will now miss the third-round tie through suspension. New Milton had been in firm control for most of the match, but keeper Dennison produced a sensational one-handed save in the 93rd minute to maintain the lead. Referee Barber then reduced Longlevens to 10 men after Charlie Turner was scythed down on the edge of the area while clean through on goal. After winning a corner from the resulting free-kick, Sampson beat a defender before squaring it to debutante Luke Stone, who had the simplest of tap- ins to send the 143 fans into rapturous celebrations. Longlevens AFC 0 NEW Milton Town sealed an FA Vase Third Round tie for the first time in 12 years after a 2-0 home win over Longlevens at the JMC Stadium on Saturday. Despite facing a side playing a step higher in the football pyramid, New Milton came into the game full of confidence, and second-half goals from Conor Jevon and a debut strike from Luke Stone sealed the win. New Milton attacked from the start, and Tyrell Sampson put a decent early chance just over the crossbar. After lovely build-up play and attacking football, New Milton had a goal disallowed when Jevon strayed offside in the build-up. Longlevens’ only chance of note in the first half came from a powerful Brad Martin header, forcing keeper Luke Dennison to tip the ball over the crossbar. New Milton’s best chance of the half fell to Charlie Turner after Sampson put a dangerous cross into the box, but the Downton FC 3 TOTTON & Eling’s hopes of reversing their poor form were dashed with a 3-0 defeat against Downton at Millers Park on Saturday. The Millers have managed to avoid defeat just once this season, but they went into the match hoping to pick up points against a Downton side who went into the match fourth from bottom. Totton keeper Oli Eyres managed to repel a few chances, but he was beaten twice in seven minutes to give the visitors a two-goal lead. “It’s a big step forward for us. Our existing lights have served the club well for more than 20 years, but now they’ve fallen behind ground grading standards and are beyond economic repair. I can’t wait to get them installed.” Lights4Sport director Martin Roche added: “Our class leading LED sports floodlights come complete with our integral SPORTcontrol phone app. This not only enables users to switch the lights on and off, but to save energy by dimming lights for training, light a third or half the pitch, as well as individual lamp control. Ringwood Town manager RichardMorse said: “Saturday’s game was a solid performance for us, we played some good stuff at times and the goals scored were well-taken. “We rode our luck a little in the first half but went into the break 2-1 up. The second half started scrappy with neither side able to get a grip on the game, but when we scored the third, we went on to get a fourth and win the game. “Our form has been good since the return, especially when considering we have had three long away trips. The breakthrough came in the 65th minute when striker Jevon got on the end of a superb free-kick from Joe Kimber. The linesman initially signalled for offside, but after a conversation, referee Paul Barber allowed Richardson who lifted the FA Vase with Wimborne Town in 1992. He also played for Lymington and New Milton. New Milton’s George Richardson with his dad Steve ‘Taffy’ curled a lovely shot in from 25 yards. After the break, Totton had decent chances to halve the deficit. The best of these fell to Ryan Lomax whose shot from distance stung the hands of the keeper. Totton’s resistance crumbled in the 82nd minute when Jack Mann scored with a thunderous long-range effort that left Eyres with no chance.
