Christchurch’s historic FA Cup run
CHRISTCHURCH FC put together their best ever FA Cup run, making it to the third qualifying round for the first time in their history. Their run came to an end with a penalty shoot-out defeat to Dulwich Hamlet, who play three divisions higher than the Hurn Bridge side. In the previous rounds, Christchurch defeated Gloucester City, who play three leagues higher, and Dorchester Town, who play two divisions above. Before that, Christchurch beat Ascot United and Bashley FC in the preliminary rounds. NEW Milton’s Charlotte Tay- lor produced the performance of her life, taking six wickets to lead the Southern Vipers to the Rachael Heyhoe Flint Tro- phy title at Edgbaston. The spin bowler’s performance, which was the best return from any bowler in the competition, is all the more remarkable considering the player was forced to work her way back from a career- threatening injury after tearing her cruciate ligament in 2017. Six-wicket Taylor leads Vipers CHRISTCHURCH’S inter- national windsurfer Emma Wilson finished fourth at the RS:X World and European Championships in 2020. The 21-year-old narrowly missed out on a world championship bronze despite taking third in the final race after her French rival Charline Picon finished ahead of her. She also fell out of medal contention in the final race at the European champion- ships. Wilson narrowly misses medals
