Welcome to the NWN Young Photographer of the Year 2020

Junior Category – Years 5 to 6

WELCOME to the fourth annual Newbury Weekly News Young Photographer of the Year competition. We are excited to be bringing the competition back for another year and the theme this time was Our Planet. Once again, the standard of entries has been superb. Over the next 14 pages you will be able to see all the amazing entries; we hope you will enjoy looking at them as much as we have. We would like to thank everyone for taking the time to enter the competition and for making this supplement as fantastic as it is. We are delighted to encourage and showcase the talented young photographers we have in our area. And we would like you, our readers, to vote for each category winner, choosing your favourite picture in each age group. Our judging panel will then choose the overall winner (once again headed by NWN’ s award- winning photographer Phil Cannings). The winners will each receive a £75 Amazon voucher. Don’t miss the opportunity to cast your vote, using the form to the right. All voting forms must be received by Thursday, July 9. You can vote as many times as you like, but each vote must be cast on an original entry form. No photocopies will be accepted. We wish all entrants the best of luck and thank you for entering this competition. The Winners will be announced in the Newbury Weekly News next month, so don’t forget to check and see who has won.

Vote for your favourite image in each category and post it to: Young Photographer of the Year 2020 Newbury Weekly News Newspaper House Faraday Road, Newbury Berkshire RG14 2AD VOTING FORM

Newbury and District is a self-funding branch of Cats Protection and has to find over £125,000 a year to fund the work of the Adoption Centre. In these uncertain times the centre is closed and they have had to postpone all of their fundraising events. As a charity they rely solely on the generosity of and kindness of public donations to enable them to go on caring for cats and kittens. The staff are continuing to look after the cats who are still in their care as hands free homing begins. Please visit their website cats.org.uk/Newbury for ideas on how to support them. If you wish to support Newbury Cats Protection, you can donate £5 today by texting NEWB to 70577 (full terms and conditions online). The team would also like to pass on their gratitude for all who have kept their cats in mind at this difficult time.

Further information on how you can support the charity, plus up-to-date information can be found at their website: www.cats.org.uk/newbury/support-us
